I am not a youth; can I still use your services?

Of course. Any person of any age is able to come in and see an employment counsellor.

Do I need to make an appointment to see a counsellor?

No. New clients are welcome to drop-in for their first visit. The best times are Monday – Thursday 9-11 and 1-3. After that, you and your counsellor will set appointments to meet.

Where are you located and when are you open?

We are located at 67 Victoria Avenue South. We are south of Main Street East and conveniently on a bus route …there is also free parking at the back of our buildings. We are open Monday to Thursday from 9-12 and 1-5 and Fridays from 9-12.

Can you help me with a resume?

Yes we can. If you are unemployed, it is best if you register with a counsellor who can help you with your job search too. If you are not registering with a counsellor, we can still help you. Our resource room co-ordinator helps people do resumes as well.

Are your services free?

That's right! We are able to offer our services at no cost to clients and employers. We receive our funding through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

I always hear the name Citizen Action Group... is that you?

Yes. CAG is our parent organization. Over the years as funding has changed, so did our name. We offer the same great services that CAG established with many improvements along the way! Currently we are the Youth Employment Centre and Hamilton Help Centre and offer services to job seekers of all ages.

Are you a placement agency?

We offer pre-employment counselling. However, we do have many connections with local employers. We often contact employers on behalf of our clients for practice interviews, information sessions and jobs. Your employment counsellor is best able to explain what we can do for you.

Do you offer Job Connect?

We sure do! Job Connect provides services to anyone looking for work/training. This may include accessing our Resource Centre or working one-on-one with a counsellor.
